Aviation Enthusiasts

The SBS-1 real-time virtual radar has revolutionised plane spotting since its launch over a year ago. With thousands of units sold, the SBS-1 is being used throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.

The unit combines the latest advances in hardware design with powerful software. The software, called BaseStation, ships with each unit and provides a virtual radar display, which shows the planes that the SBS-1 unit is picking up. With a range of up to 250 nautical miles, the SBS-1 allows aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters to view local traffic and beyond.

Install the Basestation software on your laptop, to give you true portability. The lightweight SBS-1 can be powered directly from your laptop, giving you the flexibility to take it with you while you're on the move. Pop the magmount aerial on your car roof while you're at the airport perimeter and the SBS-1 will provide a real-time view of traffic movements at the airport.

Extra Features

Basestation, the software supplied with the SBS-1, offers a wide range of features, with which you can customise your SBS-1. These include the ability to add Outline and Waypoint files, so the virtual radar displays local points of interest and airport buildings. The resources section of our user forums allows users to share these files with others - many of the worlds airports and country outlines are already available to download.

The latest version of Basestation allows users to build custom applications with data from the SBS-1. Interfaces with Google earth and text-message alerting systems are examples of the add-ons that users have created. All data that the Basestation application provides is automatically stored in an in-built database and reporting tools allow you to record all aircraft movements that have been received.
