A CHRISTMAS PRESENT FOR SBS-1 USERS

Kinetic Avionic Products Limited has delivered an early Christmas present to users of its revolutionary SBS-1 Virtual Radar by releasing a major upgrade to the SBS-1's BaseStation software.

The upgrade, which was developed under the codename "Snoopy", builds upon the previous BaseStation's virtual radar display by adding an embedded database and additional reporting and logging software to allow historical analysis of aircraft sightings. Add to this an open database interface and data socket that together allow third-party developers to create powerful companion applications, plus many general BaseStation enhancements, and the result is a significant increase in functionality.

Snoopy was tested under an open beta programme, with the result that a number of third party Snoopy add-on/compatible applications are already available, with more undergoing testing.

Will Howliston, lead developer of the BaseStation software, commented, "The range of potential uses of the SBS-1 is so great that it's simply not possible for us to implement all possible functionality. It was for this reason that the original BaseStation software had hooks built in to allow users to customise and extend some aspects of the application - hooks that our user community enthusiastically used. It was this demonstrated desire and ability to customise the system that drove the development of Snoopy. Now that Snoopy's here, I'm very keen to see just what our users and fellow developers can make it do."

Snoopy is available as a free download for existing users from the download page of the Kinetic Avionic website and can be installed as a simple upgrade to existing BaseStation software.
